25.ASIC keys and ASIC Online services

 

Company officeholders and ASIC registered agents can register for ASIC online services to view and manage company information and lodge documents from their account. This includes annual statement, current officeholder details and company address details.

 

Directors and officeholders of more than one company can manage them all from the same account.

 

If the officeholders have a business name as well as a company registration they will need to register for ASIC connect as well as the ASIC online services.

 

There are various keys issued by ASIC to help company officeholders and registered agents manage their accounts. They are

 

Corporate Key   This is a unique 8 digit number issued by ASIC to a company. It is used to keep the company information secure. Every company has one corporate key. The corporate key is used to register for online access and is mailed to the officeholder or their registered agent when they register the company for the first time. If the company is already registered the corporate key can be found on the top right hand corner of the latest annual statement.

 

ASIC key  The ASIC key is a unique number issued by ASIC to each business.it helps ASIC to identify you and to protect your information. This will be emailed to you on the email address provided when you register your business name or renew your existing business name registration. If no email address is provided then it is sent to the address provided for service of documents. It can be located in the middle of the Annual Review Notice. The ASIC key is required to set up an ASIC connect account and is used to link your business name to your ASIC Connect account.

 

The corporate key and ASIC key will both need to be used for different times if you have a Company and a Business name. These two keys cannot be used in place of each other

 

AUSkey  This is a single key to access government services online. If you have an AUSkey you will not need to sign in with a username and a password when signing into your ASIC connect account. Also you will not need to use your ASIC key when you link your business name registration to your ASIC connect account, as this will automatically be done when you first login.

 

AUSkey can be used for the following ASIC online services

  1. ASIC Connect
  2. ASIC Connect government search service (including web services)
  3. government access portal
  4. financial reporting with third party SBR-enabled software and
  5. web services for business name registration.
