12.What is an AUSkey?

AUSkey is a single key which gives access to different government online services. It reduces the hardship of managing number of usernames and passwords and provides the ease and convenience to deal with various government bodies with a single key. It is a secure login that identifies you when you use participating government online services on behalf of a business.

AUSkey can be setup on computer or a USB stick that can be used to login and use participating government agencies' online services.

How to get an AUSkey?

AUSkey is administered by the Australian Business Register (ABR) and obtaining an AUSkey is completely free.

Can AUSkey be used to log in ASIC Connect?

You can choose to log into ASIC Connect with your AUSkey. However, using an AUSkey is optional to log on to ASIC Connect. You can continue to use your username and password to log into ASIC Connect. It is your choice which method to use and you can even swap between the two methods.

How is AUSkey and businesses connected?

Your AUSkey is registered to your ABN. If you change your ABN you will need to register for a new AUSkey. There has to be one AUSkey per ABN. So you need to upload AUSkeys for all your businesses with separate ABNs.

How to use AUSkey to link businesses to ASIC Connect account?

Your businesses would be automatically added to your ASIC Connect account when you first log in with your AUSkey. You won't have to add your businesses manually to your ASIC Connect account when you first log in. The ABN for the business name recorded on ASIC register should match with the ABN registered to your AUSkey to ensure all the businesses you want to access are linked to your ASIC Connect account.
